I have had the pleasure of working on sleepwear for the whole family.

From initial concept through product creation, I have been apart of each step of the process.

Brainstorm, trend & Concept

The beginning stages of development are so important for getting alignment with partners inside as well as outside of your business. Your product has a better chance of being made correctly and on time if collaborators are on the same page from the beginning. A great way to achieve this is through discussing ideas (with examples if possible), reviewing market / trend research and putting together an initial concept or mood board.

Design details & Tech packs

Design detail pages are one of the starting points of a tech pack. This is where the garment sketch lives, and the details that make a style unique are described in detail. This is another great point to gain alignment, saving time and ensuring correct execution. After these details are confirmed, the next step would be to add Points of Measure (or POM’s) and graded specs. All of this together is what will be sent to your factory as the blueprint to help make your product.

Full tech packs also include color spec callouts, artwork information and bill of materials (BOM) which would include any trim information. I like to include style tracking information as well, to help quickly see where a product is in its lifecycle, as well as to recap where revisions have been made.
